A New York institution, Ricky’s NYC may be best known for its vast collection of saucy Halloween costumes, novelties and trashy lingerie than for its amazing selection of hair care, nail care, skin care, bath and body products, makeup and unique grooming tools. It’s like a jam packed beauty emporium where you never know what you may stumble across. Since 1989, with 22 locations: 17 stores in Manhattan, 2 in Brooklyn, 2 in Long Island and one in Miami, many of which also have in-store beauty and hair salons called RevolverSalon, Ricky’s empire is surely growing.

You might stop in just to pick up some some glitter eyelashes, makeup sponges and acid green nail files, but you can easily end up with a bag full of other goodies, including Murad Acne Gel, Burt’s Bees balms, AHAVA scrubs, Klorane eye makeup remover, Tweezerman foot file, and a GHD flat iron. The mix of trendy, niche, indie brands with professional hair care might also make you dizzy, and hope you like incense because it may just be burning somewhere in the store.

It’s also quite handy to have a Ricky’s NYC nearby for emergencies – like a rip in your fishnets, or a bra strap that needs some assistance – don’t you just hate that?! Whatever you fancy, chances are that Ricky’s has it or at least something close.  Don’t forget to check out the funky stock of birthday cards and Havaianas flip flops on your way to the register too.

A trip to Ricky’s is guaranteed to make you smile – and spend some money…

Here’s a roundup of a few essentials that found their way into our last shopping basket:

  • Coppola Keratin Complex Smoothing Shampoo
  • Shady Day Daily SPF30 Wipes
  • Conair Voltage Converter/Adaptor
  • Rickycare Invisipins Bobby Pins Blonde
  • Weleda Lavendar Relaxing Body Oil
  • OPI Start to Finish Nail Conditioner
  • Foot Petals Killer Kushionz

We also had our eye on R Session Wave Malu Waver – a  novel hair styling tool that creates natural looking waves and oddly resembles a tuning fork – but at $179.00 it will have to wait.
