OLAY REGENERIST LUMINOUS GOES FOR THE GLOW
The term “luminous skin” is about as overused in the beauty world as “selfie” is online, with practically every cream and serum promising glowing skin and especially even skin tone. But Olay’s new Regenerist Luminous collection, which features “Skin Energizing Technology” is not only about luminosity but as the name implies, it’s about skin energy.
The best part of all is that one product that we tested from the line (the Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream) really and truly works, and in less than a few days, my acne scars were less noticeable, and my skin was appeared noticeably more even. The multi-layered 3D structure of the three products in this line mimics that of a pearl, and the idea behind the combined use is to produce glowing skin that’s even toned, and pearly-flawless.
The Regenerist Luminous Collection consists of:
- Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting HydraSwirl (ARV $29.99), which improves dark circles around the eyes;
- Regenerist Luminous Brightening Cream Cleanser (ARV $8.99), which exfoliates skin with micro-beads; and
- Regenerist Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream (ARV $23.99) .
The action of infusing skin with “energy” is achieved by increasing the surface renewal rate; the tone perfecting cream claims that ingredients penetrate 10 layers deep into the skin’s surface to help reveal glowing skin. These ingredients include vitamin B3, pro-vitamin B5, vitamin E, amino peptide, green tea, and aloe vera. But while the company claims that it penetrates 10 layers of the dermis, some experts disagree that these ingredients can go that deep.
The idea of these particles penetrating the dermis on such a level would imply that they were almost nano particles, and increased luminosity factor is not really proportionate to how deep the ingredients penetrate. But the proof is in the pudding and marketing lingo aside, the product does promise—and achieve—a quasar-like glow for your skin. Within two weeks, my skin was pretty luminous, and it was time for my “selfie.”
