Any diehard Orange is the New Black (OITNB) fan knows that the ladies of Litchfield Penitentiary clean up pretty nicely – especially when they grace the red carpet at an award shows. Vicky Jeudy, who plays Janae Watson, a high-school-track-star-turned-inmate, is certainly no exception.
The former beauty pageant winner chatted with Beauty In the Bag and spilled some of her top beauty secrets.
Here’s what we learned:
1. Share one thing you do every day to keep skin glowing.
My beauty secret to keeping my skin glowing is staying hydrated. Water is essential to my daily beauty routine. I am a big fan of keeping my skin moisturized by using skin drink by LUSH.
2. How do you take care of yourself when on the set or auditioning?
When on set for Orange is the New Black or auditioning, I really watch what I eat and workout to maintain my energy. I am focused on a healthy diet as a daily routine. Sleeping seven to eight hours daily is a must. A girl has to have her beauty rest.
3. What is the one beauty product you can’t live without?
The one beauty product I can’t live without is my oil-free tinted moisturizer from Laura Mercier in the color Mocha. I love Laura Mercier! I prefer the healthy no-makeup look when I’m not working. I adore how the tinted moisture is extremely light weight and contains SPF. I dab a dime size amount, and I’m good to go. No need for powder.
4. Who is your beauty icon?
My beauty icon is Tina Knowles (Beyoncé and Solange’s mom), she is such a phenomenal woman. I had the pleasure of meeting this stunning woman at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon. She’s elegant, sophisticated and has a keen sense of style. She’s an inspiration! A natural beauty, an amazing wife, mother and business woman. A beauty icon to me represents a human being who has the total package and Tina Knowles has it.
5. Do you have any special hair care tips?
It’s important to use good moisturizing hair products that work well with curly hair. What works for someone else might not work for you. You have to experiment, and it takes time. My favorite hair products come from Shea Moisture. I adore their Coconut & Hibiscus and Jamaican Castor Oil line. It keeps my curls looking great and smells amazing.
6. How do you keep so fit?
I go to the gym, and I love working out outdoors when the weather is nice. I love going to New York Health and Racquet Club in Midtown; I train with my amazing personal trainer, Rafael Ulloa. Now that it’s nice outside, I will rent a bike and head to Central Park.
