Lather hand cream

LATHER AHA HAND CRÈME WITH EVENING PRIMROSE I am literally writing this post from Delta Business Class en route to a Plastic Surgery Conference in Barcelona, having just freshened up in the restroom. I have to admit that I am a total hand cream snob. I often judge hotels and restaurants by the quality of the hand cream in the ladies lounge. In fact, my earliest introduction to Molton Brown was at The Mark hotel (now condos), a Mandarin Oriental property, on New York’s Upper East Side. The Coco de mer Body Lotion is still one of my all time favorites, and the scent of it brings back some good memories. As a Platinum American Airlines flyer, I have grown accustomed to the 3 ounce bottle of Burt’s Bees Body Lotion that comes in the tacky red dopp kits. I made the mistake of using it one time and I had to jump out of my seat to wash off that smell from my hands. I do not mean to condemn the whole range of Burt’s Bees based on this one product alone. I actually love their Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream wholeheartedly, and I never leave the plane without swiping the Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. But someone had an off day in their fragrance department when they came up with this one! I still recall the days of Temple Spa goodies from AA with a distant fondness. If I dig in my nightstand drawer, I may actually find a few half squeezed tubes of it left. So I wasn’t expecting much when I staggered to avoid turbulence over the Atlantic. My hands get so dry on planes, and in keeping with the TSA 50 ml max regulations, I never have enough room left in my one precious baggie to bring my own favorite hand creams with me. In my droswy stupor, I pumped some white cream next to the sink into my hands, mistakenly thinking it was soap. Lo and behold, to my pleasant surprise, it was LATHER AHA Hand Crème with Evening Primrose. The texture was lovely, non greasy and absorbed quickly, and the fragrance was mild and absolutely welcoming. I wandered back to my seat in the hope that the dopp kit in my seat pocket housed some more LATHER treats. Darn! No LATHER in sight – but I did find a tiny tube of Korres Yoghurt Moisturizing Cream. Hey girls, you know you’re a frequent flyer when these things mean a lot to you; you crave some semblance of creature comforts when you’re away from home; so much that even a simple nicety like a sample of hand cream holds the power to bump a long, drawn out intercontinental flight up a notch. The LATHER hand crème may just compel me to take a few more trips to the restroom before we land…

FINAL VERDICT: GGI (Gotta Get It) – Lovely creamy textured hand lotion with alpha hydroxy acids for mild exfoliation and a sweet, relaxing fragrance. It’s hard to find a good hand cream when you need one, so I will pick some of this up upon my return!
