Marlene Weber, founder of the PureCeuticals skin care line, developed passion for skincare solutions during her early twenties when she first began experiencing serious complexion problems. Not finding skincare products that addressed the root cause of her problems, Marlene began learning about how our bodies work and the science behind healthy skin. Wanting to share her knowledge and help others who were suffering from skin problems, she became an esthetician. After completing her training and starting her own business, Marlene assembled a team of experts to bring to market an results-oriented skincare line that would be available to everyone. The result is PureCeuticals: quality, reasonably-priced skincare products—conscientiously produced with natural ingredients—that the consumer can feel good about using.
Tell us a little bit about your history—why did you decide to become an esthetician?
My passion for skincare solutions originated during my early 20s when I developed severe skin problems. Not finding skincare products that addressed the root cause of my skin problems, I began learning about how the body works, and the science supporting the mechanisms needed for healthy skin. I wanted to share my knowledge and help others who were suffering from skin problems. After many years in the corporate real estate world, I quit my job to become an esthetician, taking a leap of faith, wanting to share my knowledge and help others who were suffering from skin problems…. and never looked back!
How would you describe your personal beauty philosophy?
I truly believe beauty comes from within… The inner strength and confidence a woman has makes her truly beautiful. If we feel good on the inside it will show on the outside, same with beauty products…using pure and natural ingredients that penetrate deep into the skin will do good on the inside and you will see results on the outside.
What inspired you to create PureCeuticals?
After esthetician school I started my career at Burke Williams Day Spa in West Hollywood, CA. I became an integral member of the product development team, where we worked together in developing new, cutting edge skincare products for the H2V Line at the spa. After several years at Burke Williams, and a very loyal following, I decided to branch out on my own and start my own skincare business. I assembled a team of expert cosmetic chemists to help me bring to market an innovative, eco-conscience, results-oriented skincare line that is available to everyone.
What is unique about the PureCeuticals line and what are a few of your favorite products?
PureCeuticals are made with high levels of cosmeceutical-grade ingredients; most companies will not show percentages of active ingredients, but we want our customers to know exactly what they are getting. We have two product lines to choose from, and both lines can be mixed and matched:
PureCeuticals—With pharmaceutical grade ingredients such as peptides, retinol, retinyl palmitate, alpha lipoic acid, DMAE, glycolic acid, and GABA. Shelf life is 12 months.
PureCeuticals (Exotic Naturals)—All products are 100% natural, with high levels of active ingredients such as sugar cane, malic acid and L-ascorbic acid. Shelf life is 6 months.
Favorites: AHA Exfoliating Serum, Pumpkin Enzyme Cleanse, Multi-Enzyme Pumpkin Peel, Ferulic C Antioxidant Serum, Grape Seed Hydrating Crème
Do you have any at-home skincare tips for our readers?
Always cleanse your face at night before bed. Every day skin cells die due to sun, air pollution, wind, and extreme weather. If we don’t cleanse at night and use a good antioxidant serum, those cells will never be repaired. Always use products that have vitamins A, C, E, green tea, and beta carotene, which assist in skin repair and the strengthening of blood vessels.
What do you have planned for the future of PureCeuticals?
I hope to start selling in natural beauty stores and medical spas.
