Instead of watching TV before bed, Paramus, NJ plastic and reconstructive surgeon Jordan P. Farkas, MD, Zwivels.
He also Zwivels before work, at lunch and even on the weekends.
In case you are not familiar with the term, Zwivel is the clever name given to an online platform started by one of Farkas’ partners, Gary Breslow, MD.
Zwivel connects plastic surgeons and prospective patients online before either party commits to an in-office consultation, allowing for back and forth – i.e zwiveling– regarding expectations, cost, downtime and all that goes into planning for a cosmetic procedure.
Zwivel has been a game change for many – including Farkas. “It allows patients the opportunity to find out if what they are looking for is realistic, within their budget and time frame without ever having to waste their time through a full consultation,” he says. “It’s a really easy wonderful platform for prospective cosmetic surgery patients. “
Dr. Farkas chatted with Beauty In the Bag about Zwivel, what the real, Real Housevives of NJ are looking for in terms of cosmetic enhancements, and the rewards of working with breast reconstruction patients.
Here’s what he had to say:
1. What are some of the trends you are seeing in your practice?
“So many patients are inquiring about the latest non-invasive therapies and seeking out injections in line with the annual statistics reported by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). The real, Real Housewives of New Jersey are interested in minimal downtime and quick fixes to get them back to their busy lives, which unfortunately only gives them a limited result. I trained in Dallas at UT Southwestern with some of the top plastic surgeons in the US. There is a much different approach to cosmetic surgery in Texas than in the Northeast. The typical Dallas cosmetic patient was much more comfortable with surgical procedures, like facelifts and blepharoplasty, than women who live in New York and New Jersey. They are often turned off by a long recovery and any downtime. We are also starting to see a trend of younger patients looking into aging prevention who are determined not to age the way their parents did.”
2. Tell us about your reconstructive surgery practice.
“We have a wonderful breast reconstruction practice providing women with all forms of breast reconstruction including implants and microvascular reconstruction. It is very rewarding and gratifying. The patients are such a pleasure to take care of and I enjoy being able to put my training to good use. ”
3. How has Zwivel changed the way you interact with your patients?
“I Zwivel multiple times/day and it is a very powerful tool that patients love. It keeps our cosmetic practice open 24 hours/day 7 days a week. It allows patients to receive expert opinions from board certified plastic surgeons in their geographic area on all of their cosmetic surgical concerns from the comfort of their own home or smartphone. You can’t beat the convenience of it and patients seem to like getting to know their doctor and what is involved with the procedures they are considering, even before they come into our office. I think this is the future of medicine, and especially cosmetic surgery. “
