Celebrity makeup artist Carol Shaw curated the gorgeous eyeshadow shades for the LORAC Pro Palette 2 ($42), which just hit counters this summer
The new launch is a pleasing diversion from the original Pro Palette, which stuck mostly to neutral shades. Pro Palette 2 is a lot more adventurous in color without compromising on elegance and depth.
The 16 shades in this slim, clutch-like palette include mattes and shimmers that pair quite beautifully together and harmonize perfectly for an elegant transition from day to night. Colors range from a latte-like Mocha, which is more bronze than anything else, to a sparkling rose, which will remind you of a glass of peach schnapps as seen on a summer day.
There are eight matte shades and eight shimmer shades suited for cool tones that will carry you well from summer to fall. Dip your toe into the LORAC Pro Palette waters by watching Carol Shaw’s handy YouTube tutorial, which will give you more ideas than you or I can probably think of:
The “Behind the Scenes” eye primer, which comes with the palette, will “help your eye shadow colors stay true,” says Shaw (and she’s right). My makeup stayed budge-proof for over 8 hours.
The YouTube tutorial gave me many ideas, including using multiple shades on the outer corner of the brow, and also lining the eyelids with a wet eyeliner brush (the first look is very ombre). Don’t be afraid to use these colors below the lash line as well as on the eyelids as they are very versatile. Shades like Rose, which may look daunting at first, become magical highlighters when applied judiciously in the middle of the eye (pair them with transition colors like Cocoa or Charcoal for a shimmer effect).
I cannot wait to experiment with this collection as we move into fall: it will be a chic and a grown up addition to your eye makeup collection and one that’s carefully selected to complement all skin tones.
