Who would have guessed, but today is Caviar Day. Now, I have to admit, I fancy a bit of the ambrosial fish roe now and then, especially washed down with a nice glass of chilled Veuve Clicquot, but since the economic downturn, my meet ups with Beluga, Ossetra, or Sevruga, have been as rare as finding a good film through Netflix online.
But just because my high society days have been briefly interrupted is no reason to ignore Caviar Day. Skincare and hair products abound that contain the extract of the magical roe, at prices to suit all budgets.
One of the richest sources of amino and acids and omega 3 fatty acids, caviar extract works to strengthen and hydrate the skin. Mario Bedescu Caviar Day Cream ($20) is a luxurious treatment for dry mature, or dehydrated skin at a great price. It’s super moisturizing and a bit on the heavy side, so save this one for the dead of winter or when suffering from extreme dry skin. At the opposite end of the price spectrum, La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream ($410) firms, stimulates collagen, and retexturizes while it drenches the skin with moisture and nourishment.
Hair’s The Thing
Caviar helps hair look its luxurious best. The Alterna line is based on the nourishing extract, which strengthens tresses and helps them look smooth, shiny, and buoyant. Alterna Caviar CC Cream 10-in-1 Complete Correction ($25) is a leave in cream that benefits hair in 10 ways—It provides moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, anti-breakage, heat protection, light hold, UV protection, manageability, and strength.
A caviar accord wraps around an olfactive theme of fig to present a unique sweet and savory scent in Womanity by Thierry Mugler. Think sultry femininity with a sea like lift. Try the collection’s Body Lotion ($45), which imparts a scented mysteriousness while smoothing your skin.
