Tell us a bit about your practice and your specialties.
I have a very rewarding practice – I get to improve patients’ enjoyment of life and how they feel about themselves using the very best technology has to offer. My cosmetic practice specializes in nonsurgical rejuvenation and liposculpture. With advancement in technology, proper technique and artistry, we can create natural appearing results while turning back the clock.
As your practice is in San Diego, what procedures are most requested in sunny Southern California?
The most requested procedure in Southern California is body shaping – both nonsurgical (like Velashape and the latest in nonsurgical, painless skin tightening and shaping technology, Venus Freeze) and liposculpture, which continues to improve. I currently am performing a combination of various technologies in lipo to provide patients a specialized and personalized plan to achieve the best results possible.
What’s new in the field of sun care and protection?
We now have a sunscreen pill called “Heliocare” – it is an herbal supplement that works to increase our own skin’s protection from UV damage. When used in combination with topical sunscreen, we can better protect our skin. Heliocare is ideal for people who love water sports and athletes who have a hard time keeping sunscreen on.
If budget is a concern, what is the best bang for your buck treatment?
The biggest bang for your buck procedure with instant gratification is the combination of Botox for wrinkles with hyaluronic fillers to restore volume loss. This no downtime, nonsurgical procedure can literally turn back the clock and is a great way to look your best for important events without the pain and cost of a surgical procedure.
What’s the most common skincare mistake women make in the summer and how should it be avoided?
The biggest skincare mistake is not using sunscreen everyday and not just on days when you are “out in the sun.” Even the daily drive to and from work, or walking to and from the parking lot to work, grocery shopping or picking up the kids can cause sun damage, aging and even skin cancers.
What about men’s skincare – are there new development in this area?
There are now so many options for sunscreen that men are able to tolerate and apply on their skin on a daily basis. There are effective spray on and stick sunscreens that men prefer. Also Heliocare is ideal for active men so that they can still protect their skin without having to feel they have to apply creams all over.
More and more men are coming in to reverse sun damage on their skin, there are simple, no downtime procedures such as a Fotofacial/RF and Photodynamic therapy, which can keep men looking natural and have the younger and healthier skin they want.
