Jessica Alba sure knows how to launch a new line! The Honest Company — highly regarded for its eco-friendly consumer goods products — has just expanded into the makeup and skincare arena with its launch of Honest Beauty. From the moment I walked into the event I was inspired. The venue was Trump’s Soho Sohi Room; it has the most incredible city views I’ve ever seen. The room was filled with a plethora of pink blooms, a bountiful wall of succulents and many makeup/skincare stations strategically placed throughout the room making it easy to sample to my hearts content. And…the bubbly was flowing!

After a bit of mingling and learning about the vast array of products from some of the brand’s beauty experts, Alba took a break in her own mingling to address the crowd. “Safe and effective beauty products are what people want, and being able to deliver the type of flawless finish to the textures, beautiful pigments, and payoff in their color cosmetics is something you really don’t see anywhere else,” said Alba. After playing around a bit with the products I too, was duly impressed.

Honest Beauty is a comprehensive collection of makeup and skin care products. The makeup line has a primer, concealer, foundation, cream blush and powder, eye shadows, eye liners and brow pencils, lip glow and lip crayons and a lash primer/mascara. The skincare includes cleansers, moisturizers, tinted moisturizer, a magic balm, makeup wipes and a konjac sponge as well. Some of the products even come with a pull-out tutorial so you can really get the most out them but there are also online photos, videos and tips making the entire collection practically foolproof.

I’m loving it all but these are a few standouts that you’ll definitely want to check out yourself:

Refreshingly Clean Powder Cleanser ($22 for 30 Single Use Packets) can be used for at home use, but I’m particularly taken with its no muss-no fuss powder formula and smart packaging. Just toss some packets in your bag or suitcase when traveling or heading to the gym and you won’t have to worry about liquid or gel cleansers spilling or leaking out and ruining whatever it comes in contact with. This cleanser contains chamomile, calendula and aloe to calm and soothe your complexion, Aspen bark to brighten and Zea mays, oat and rice powder to help balance oil production. To use, simply pour contents of packet into palm and rub damp hands together before massaging onto face. Then, rinse and pat dry to finish.

Truly Lush Mascara + Lash Primer in Black Mirror ($22) — officially my new favorite mascara — has a double ended wand that perfects your lashes like no other that’s ever come before it. The primer end coats, nourishes and protects each lash while the mascara end adds lush length, volume and rich color pigments. Honestly, lashes look thicker, longer, lifted and naturally gorgeous!

Magic Balm ($18) is appropriately named because it seems to work just like magic! This beauty balm softens, smoothes and soothes wherever you choose to apply it. Let it go to work highlighting cheekbones and the eye area for a gorgeous, dewy, fresh-faced finish or use it to soften and soothe lips, cuticles and any other area with dry or patchy skin. Its rich, nourishing oils and extracts will also help prevent unwanted dryness and promote skin health.
