The way the story goes is that the Baobab tree is a long-living tree found in Africa (we’re talking up to 5,000 years old!), with a massive trunk that can store up to 32,000 gallons of water. Its fruit oil can hold eight times its weight in moisture, is easily absorbed into hair and skin, and loaded with nutrients including vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, calcium, iron, zinc, potassium, magnesium, and manganese. It’s also highly anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and contains fatty acids, proteins and amino acids.
When celebrity stylist Israel Segal was looking for hydrating hair care products for him and his family, he decided to create his own healthier hair care line without harsh chemicals. After three years of research Segal and his chemist came upon the superstar ingredient Baobab oil, that would become the cornerstone of his haircare line, Free Your Mane.
Segal chose Baobab oil because he liked its many therapeutic benefits — we’re talking instant and long-lasting hydration as well its healing, nourishing, emollient, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties — so he combined it with other bioactive phytonutrients including antioxidant-rich Pomegranate seed oil, soothing Chamomile extract and Rosehips seed oil to roll out a haircare line worthy of his original mission: To help him, his family and friends be beautiful without having to resort to harsh chemicals. Mission accomplished!
Clearly, this little oil that could is no one-trick pony…and clearly, Segal is no one-trick pony either. The overwhelming success of his Free Your Mane line led him to launch Free Your Body, a body care collection that’s also infused with the overachieving Baobab Oil. Besides its many benefits for dry hair and scalp, Baobab oil also helps encourage cell regeneration and boost collagen and hydration, making it the perfect ingredient to help reboot dry or aging skin.
