CEW SPARKLES IN MANHATTAN

Not even a torrential downpour could stop 2,400 of New York’s beauty elite from turning up in droves for the annual Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) Product Demo Night at the Metropolitan Pavillion in Chelsea. They came from hear and far, brand pioneers, aestheticians, makeup artists, PRs, marketers, retailers, editors, bloggers, and beauty execs to see what the beauty industry is buzzing about, and to score a very cool swag bag of products.

The annual Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) Beauty Insider Awards season kicked off with a record-breaking 816 products entered this year and 703 participated in the demo event to allow members to sample and experience the products before voting for their favorites across 33 of 37 award categories.

The categories range from Turn Back Time (anti-aging skincare), to All Eyes on Me (eye makeup), It Makes Scents (women’s fragrance), and Iconic Beauty, with new categories added every year in haircare, cosmetics, fragrance, skincare, doctor brands, green beauty, men’s grooming, and even home devices. A total of 429 brands entered this year, the highest number on record.

“Winning a CEW Beauty Insider Award is one of the highest honors in the beauty industry,” says Carlotta Jacobson, President of CEW. “The Awards act as a guide for consumers by recognizing the top beauty products and innovations of the year.”

Among the most notable categories, Indie brands are given the opportunity to showcase their wares to industry leaders. CEW highlighted the importance of trends in the niche market by making the Indie Brand category a key focus of the Product Demonstration. Forty-three brands entered into the Indie category this year, which is a 30 percent increase from last year, which speaks to consumers’ insatiable appetite for all things beauty.

According to to Shaun Westfall, Managing Director at Piper Jaffray, sponsor of the Indie Brand Beauty Award for the second year, “Through digital and social media, brands and passionate founders have an ability to connect like never before directly with their consumers. This ability to reach consumers with their stories is empowering a new era of entrepreneurs and brand builders that will continue to change the face of the industry.”

Save The Dates – The finalists will be announced live on Twitter on Thursday, March 24. CEW’s Board of Governors and select industry experts will vote for the winners, who will be announced at the always sold out Beauty Awards Luncheon on May 13 at New York’s iconic Waldorf-Astoria Grand Ballroom.
