It’s not often something truly new, in terms of a beauty concept, launches in London. This may be one of the best cities in the world for discovering new and exciting pampering places (remember how excited you were when Pout launched or Jelly Pong Pong, or Lost in Beauty?) but how often do you stumble across something hairs-on-the-back-of-your-neck unique?
I am pleased to say that only last week, I found a unique beauty haven for glambitious city girls – hardworking, successful women (like our BITB fans) that don’t forfeit glamour in favour of ‘sensible’ to get ahead in their careers.
Amongst the ubiquitous grey concrete in and around the Royal Exchange stands an intriguing boutique, wedged modestly in-between boring and even more boring – it’s Louisa Barnett’s Butterfly, London.
Creative communications consultant Louisa recognised that women in the financial sector wanted to look polished and stylish but lacked the most precious of all commodities – time. The solution comes in the form of fast, efficient and affordable beauty treatments for the working woman at Butterfly, which is open 12 hours a day from 7:30am until 7:30pm Monday to Friday, so it’s literally at your beck and call. The beauty therapists and hair stylists are talented and the atmosphere unpretentious, relaxed and almost homely.
Choose from high-speed hair, makeup, nails or facials with some great exclusive brands such as Italian makeup range Barbara Bort. If you want to spend a few extra pounds after your appointment, like I did, you’ll love the treasures on show for purchase; there’s everything from dry shampoo and comfy shoes to trinkets and thongs and vintage hair accessories expertly and exclusively sourced for the boutique.
Wish there was one on my local high street! I certainly share Louisa’s vision: Butterfly will be going global before you know it!
