All of the lip balm in the world won’t help you if you’ve a dry, craggy kisser. Gentle scrubs formulated to exfoliate and remove product build-up leave your lips looking perfect naked, whether you decide to go au naturel with a bit of balm or paint your pout with gloss or lipstick. With this winter’s return of rich reds and berries, you absolutely need to start with healthy lips, and these scrubs will get you there.
It’s no secret that we have mad love for Korres around these parts; here’s BITB’s recent conversation with Brand Development Director Lena Korres. The Organic Lemon Lip Scrub is consistent with the line’s signature combination of natural ingredients and hard scientific know-how. Rice powder gives the scrub its exfoliating oomph in a conditioning blend of coconut flour, jojoba seed oil and beeswax. Lemon Lip Scrub is free of parabens, petrochemicals and pthalates, and it retails for $19.
The Lip Scrub by Sarah Happ is something of a cult sensation. The adorable little box reveals a pot filled with sweet smelling, kitchen brewed lip exfoliant. The main ingredients are sugar, jojoba and grape seed oils. The Lip Scrub is available in six flavors, almond creme, peppermint, vanilla bean, brown sugar, cinnamon and cocoa at $24 a pop.
The Body Shop Lip Scuff may have been the first scrub to ever slough my lips, back when dinosaurs wandered the earth. It’s a little rough but extremely effective, with crushed fig stone granules to exfoliate, moisturizing macadamia nut and marula oils, organic beeswax and peppermint oil for a delicious scent that’s perfect for the holiday season. At $12 it is a great budget buy and the tube lasts a really long time.
