Immunocologie, the health-focused skincare label, debuted a new set of products last month at Manhattan’s private Core Club, an art-filled (think Warhol or Calder) oasis in midtown.
The new set of products come in hefty onyx-colored bottles and jars, and its contents focuses on improving the immune system, which is the driver for healthy, vibrant skin. Since many of us live in less than perfectly pure environments, elements like the sun, rain, and wind wreak havoc on our skin and most importantly, on our skin barrier, which are typically weakened and allow impurities to pass through.
Immunocologie CEO Karen Ballou says that the common skin-hampering factors of skin health include getting sick, lack of sleep, stress, poor nutrition, allergies, and aging. External factors include free radicals, negative ion exposure from strong UV rays, pollution, extreme weather, and electronic device transmissions.
The idea behind the products is to use the the bio-available, plant-based actives to help skin generate the same positive skin response if our internal and external conditions were perfect — as though we were living in a terrarium or our own biosphere. The idea behind Immunocologie’s new products comes pretty close to creating a biosphere for your skin.
The signature Vital Oligo Complex contains 15 essential elements that are important for skin function, containing plant-derived peptides, antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and minerals.
All this science talk sounds impressive, but what I want to know is how the products work together. The four new SKUs I received were: Cleansing Lotion ($65), ideal for sensitive skin and helps shed dead skin cells; Super 7 Elixir Face ($325), contains mucin cultivated from the Helix Aspersa snail (native to the shores of Brittany, France); and Face Serum ($300), a nutrient-dense, ultra-nourishing emollient that helps fight free radicals.
The Cleansing Lotion is light and smells interesting, and does wonders for removing the dirt and day’s dust off your face. I followed up with the Super 7 Elixir Face, a milky oasis,, and finally I used the Face Serum — my unrivaled favorite — which is probably worth that $300 because in a few days after using this combination, my wrinkles starting to substantially diminish, and my skin had developed a nice , Casper-like glow.
While my cold didn’t magically disappear from using Immunocologie, I can definitely tell you that the radiant results of my skin are almost immediate. I am sold, hook, line, and sinker.
