Sometimes it’s impossible to look your best. The cause of this might be that you tossed and turned all night long, or that extra alcohol you downed last night or stress catching up with you and taking a toll on your usual bright-eyed and bushy-tailed appearance. Whatever the culprit, while you might not be capable of looking your best, you certainly don’t have to look your worst!
Here’s what you can do to improve the situation until you can get your good looks back on track:
- Moisturize from the inside out and the outside in. Drink a full glass of water upon waking and plenty of water throughout the day. You should also infuse your complexion with a hyaluronic acid moisturizer to plump up dehydrated skin and restore a healthy glow.
- Curl lashes to help open your eyes up as much as possible and look more wide awake.
- Apply your makeup sparingly and strategically — A heavy hand will only exacerbate the problem. Use a creamy under eye concealer to hide the evidence, tinted moisturizer or bb cream for a dewy glow, touch of sheer pink blush to add some life to your skin, rosy-toned gloss for a moist pucker, and a coat of mascara (on upper lids only) for some definition.
Peter Thomas Roth VIZ-1000 75 percent Hyaluronic Acid Complex ($65) combines Hyaluronic Acid to help your skin hold onto and attract up to 1,000 times its own weight in water from moisture in the air, Sodium PCA to bind moisture to the skin, Silk Proteins to soften and Sea Algae to soothe. This powerhouse formula will help keep hydrated all day long and promote a more fresh-faced appearance.
Shiseido Eyelash Curler ($19.50) should only be used on clean, dry lashes before applying your mascara. To do it right, look down and grip the base of your lashes with the curler while you gently squeeze it once at the base, once in the middle and once when you’re near the tip. The key to getting it right is to apply gentle pressure so you get a natural looking curl. If you press too hard you’re more prone to get a harsh and undesirable crimp instead. This curler has been redesigned to prevent pinching, it has flexible silicon rubber pads and it catches each and every lash for perfect lift and curl every time.
Burberry Fresh Glow B.B. Cream Broad Spectrum 20 ($44) comes in 3 sheer skin-matched shades that are formulated to flatter and enhance all skin tones. It’s also made with light diffusing properties that will boost skin’s radiance and impart a dewy sheen to your complexion. This multi-tasker — it moisturizes, perfects and protects — comes in a build able formula so you can add more coverage or less coverage where necessary.
