The famous Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa flagship has set up shop in a new location at 663 Fifth Avenue, just two blocks south of its former address in New York City. Occupying two full floors atop the Ferragamo building, the new state-of-the-art facility continues the tradition established by Elizabeth Arden in 1910. The 21,000 square foot facility houses all of the amenities of a modern day spa and salon, including an outdoor penthouse terrace and sun deck that overlooks Fifth Avenue.
The focus here is on customer service, heritage and beauty, explained George Lopez, the spa’s general manager, who led a group of editors on a tour of the new facility. Following Ms. Arden’s fundamental belief that “to be beautiful is the birthright of every woman,” a quote posted proudly in the spa’s café, Cornelia Zicu, the global chief creative officer for Red Door Spas, has created a comprehensive menu of treatments from which to choose. Zahir Ziani, national creative director and master stylist for Red Door Spas, heads up the salon portion of the enterprise, while Lindsay Ebbin, national makeup artist and retail director for Red Door Spas oversees makeup strategy and product selection.
“Every inch of the new space honors our classic heritage, while inspiring new, groundbreaking and exclusive beauty and spa treatments,” said Todd Walter, CEO of Red Door Spa Holdings. “We our building on our success throughout the last century to catapult Red Door Spas into the next, cementing our position as a visionary spa leader and trendsetter.” Counting the flagship location, there are 31 Red Door day and resort spas nationwide.
Continuing Ms. Arden’s vision, the Red Door Spa flagship offers an extensive menu of day spa and salon services, including skincare, massage and body treatments, nail services, hair color and styling, makeup artistry, bridal packages, couples and VIP treatments, gentlemen services and a spa café. It also carries a full selection of Elizabeth Arden skincare, fragrance and makeup products. A sizeable relaxation lounge offers a respite before or after treatments and a luxury penthouse treatment room can accommodate two people at a time. Another treatment room even features an infinity tub for a relaxing soak right above the corner of bustling 5th Avenue and 52nd Street.
Ms. Arden believed that beauty should be “an intelligent union of nature and science to develop one’s finest natural assets.” Add exquisite design and sophisticated innovation to the mix, and you have the perfect formula for a lovely spa escape right in New York City.
