Spurred on by her love of exotic locales and interest in aromatherapy, Kim Spadaro has created a line of fragrances that will break through your daily grind and transport you to faraway places. The collection, simply called Spadaro, takes us on an olfactory journey to Majorca, Marrakech and Sicily with fragrances that can be worn by both men and women.
Noche del Fuego ($155), the first scent developed by Kim, conjures up memories of a trip to Majorca, Spain, including a visit to a former 13th Century palace complete with ancient, aromatic Mediterranean gardens. This fiery number features notes of bergamot, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, paprika, saffron and black pepper.
Arabian adventures have inspired much more than volumes of literature; they are also the inspiration for Doux Amour ($135), created after a trip that took Kim from Casablanca to Marrakech. Her experiences of shopping in souks, being awestruck by desert blooms and sipping Moroccan wine are all manifested in the scent. Its notes include ylang ylang, Casablanca lily, Moroccan jasmine, patchouli, amber sandalwood and vanilla.
A trip to Sicily gave Kim and her family a chance to rediscover their Italian heritage, and also inspired Sole Nero ($135), a scent rooted in the sweet and juicy citrus fruits they enjoyed each day as well as an unforgettable dinner near Mount Etna. The lightest and freshest of the trio, Sole Nero’s notes include Italian grapefruit, bergamot, white pepper, cumin, musk, sandalwood, almond and honey.
In addition to capturing her travels, Kim’s objective was to develop a line that was “timeless, classic, elegant but uncluttered.” She also used as many natural oils as possible in order to deliver the subtleties of each scent’s inspiring locale.
The Spadaro trio is available now at select Nordstrom doors as well as www.nordstrom.com and www.spadaro.co. Four percent of all purchases will be donated to the Spadaro Foundation, which benefits women’s and children’s global and domestic charities.
