From big wands to oscillating applicators, mascaras have come a long way from the one size fits all brush of your grandmother’s era. And that’s a good thing, because not everyone’s needs and style are alike. To help in your quest to find the perfect lash enhancer, BITB has put together a list of some of the newest to hit beauty shelves and aisles. Length, volume and separation –you can have it all with the bounty of mascaras in the marketplace.
Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Lashes, $26 – While the world may be agog for Lancôme’s oscillating mascara, BITB loves Doll Lashes. With a new cone-shaped brush, this mascara creates a big wide-eyed look fringed with thick and lengthened lashes. While it may take a moment to get the hang of using the cone applicator, in the end it’s a great tool that makes covering hard-to-reach corner and lower lashes a breeze. The formula also helps curl lashes while it coats with shiny color. For daytime use, only one coat is needed, but a second coat will give you added color, length and volume for nighttime outings.
Chanel Inimitable Intense, $30 – Building on the success of award-winning Inimitable mascara, this enhanced version delivers even more dramatic results. Formulated to separate while it lengthens, thickens and curls, Inimitable Intense is a bit of a splurge but worth it. It has stay-put power, which any gal on the go has got to love. Available in four shades, including playful purple.
Avon Super Shock Mascara, $9 – Get volume without the dreaded clumping with this fave mascara from Avon. The secret to the volume here is the thickening base coat that comes with the mascara. In addition to separating, Shock Mascara lengthens and separates to give you that good as fake eye lash fringe.
L’Oréal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara, $8.95 – Creating longer than long lashes, Voluminous False Fiber Lashes features a blend of long and short nylon and rayon fibers, just like real false lashes. We like to enhance the curl quotient by using an eyelash curler before applying the mascara. Be prepared to be accused of wearing falsies
Flirt! All That Lash Volumizing Mascara, $15 – A great long-lasting option that will get you through the day without the need to reapply. The company claims it gives you 108% fuller lashes, which we attribute to the oversized brush, a personal favorite. It works great on lashes like mine, longish but sparse and fair. Another great boost is that All That Lash really, truly washes off with warm water.
Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara, $10 – Struggling to get your bottom lashes covered with mascara is a thing of the past with Clinique’s little wonder. A tiny, special-sized brush allows you to reach those small lashes without creating great globs of color. Smear proof, of course, Bottom Lash Mascara is available in two shades.
Shiseido Perfect Mascara Full Definition, $24 – Great for separating lashes and creating definition, this brand new mascara features a dual-textured brush that guarantees to cover every lash. The smudge-free formula is exceptionally clump free and reportedly lasts up to 16 hours. Not as volumizing as some of our other options, it will create depth with multiple coats.
CoverGirl LashBlast 24 Hour Mascara, $8 – Though hard to test, this mascara is claimed to last up to 24 hours. It features CoverGirl’s big, bold brush, which I happen to love because of the way it deposits mucho color yet somehow doesn’t clump. Great for volume and intensity.
